Privacy Policy

Overview

K2 Companion (“the App”) is a mobile client for K2, a Fair Source (FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0) AI workspace application. The App's only job is to talk to your own K2 server. It reaches your machine through K2 Connect, our hosted secure tunnel: you sign in with your K2 Connect account and the App connects to your server over the tunnel.

K2 Connect is a separate hosted service with its own K2 Connect Privacy Policy, which you agree to when you sign up for it online. This policy covers the App itself.

The App Collects Nothing

The App itself collects no information about you. Specifically:

• No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
• No crash reporting sent to Alakazam Labs
• No third-party SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels
• No selling, sharing, or profiling of any information

How It Connects

The App routes your session to your own machine through the K2 Connect relay. What that hosted service does with your connection — and our commitment never to read your session contents — is described in the K2 Connect Privacy Policy.

The App handles your conversations with your agents, files you choose to attach or open, and the password you type to sign in. Your password is sent over the encrypted connection to authenticate and is never stored on your device. Signing out of a server ends that device's session on your server.

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following locally on your device:

• Saved connections: your server address, username and a nickname you choose, plus a sign-in token so you stay signed in. Your password is not stored.
• Recent conversations: to open chats instantly and show them while you're offline, the App keeps a copy of your most recent messages on your device (about the last 100 messages per conversation, with a size limit). This copy is deleted when you sign out of a server or remove it from the App.
• Preferences: settings such as notification and preview choices, your Home layout and unsent drafts.
• Notification extras: agent pictures used to show notifications, kept in the App's private storage on your device.

This data stays on your device except when the App talks to your own server through K2 Connect.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the App gives your K2 server a device token so it can notify you about new messages and items waiting for you. Notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service by way of K2 Connect.

Message previews are on by default and can be turned off per server in the App. When previews are on, a notification includes a short excerpt of the message (up to about 140 characters). When they're off, it shows only who sent it. Files are never named in a notification, only counted. How previews appear on your lock screen also follows your iOS notification settings.

Camera, Photos and Files

When you choose to attach a photo, video or file, the App asks for access to your camera, microphone (to record a video's sound) or photo library only for that action, and sends what you pick to your own server. Files your agents share are opened from your server when you tap them. Nothing is uploaded anywhere else.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates no analytics providers, ad networks or social SDKs. It uses Apple Push Notification service to deliver notifications. Your connection to your server runs through K2 Connect, whose data handling is covered by its own privacy policy.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will post the revised version at this URL.
