How is K2 different from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor?+
K2 runs them. It's the room those agents work in: real terminals on a daemon that keeps running when you close the app, agents that message each other, and viewers who can watch or take the keyboard from any device.
Do I need a server?+
No. K2 runs on your Mac, a Linux box or a Raspberry Pi. If you don't have a machine to leave on, K2 Cloud provisions one for you in a click, paired with your k2.dev subdomain.
Which models can I use?+
Any CLI agent — Claude, Codex, Gemini, Grok, Copilot, Cursor Agent, OpenCode, Goose, Pi, Hermes — or a local model via llama.cpp that never leaves the machine.
Does K2 see my API keys or mark up tokens?+
No. You bring your own keys; token spend goes straight to your provider. K2 never charges for usage and never sees your bill.
Is K2 open source?+
K2 is Fair Source (FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0): source fully visible, free to use for individuals and businesses, free to self-host, and every version becomes Apache 2.0 two years after release.
